Getting Started
Welcome to Love to Learn Homeschool! We believe that learning is best done together. This curriculum was created to offer fun unit studies that you could do with your whole family in an effort to bring you together while learning and having fun!
When using our unit studies, move at your own pace. Each day begins with you reading a lesson from the Teacher's Guide.
For Main Units and Novel Studies:
A Lesson a Week:
If you are completing one lesson per week, we recommend completing the reading from the Teacher's Guide on day 1, and choosing different activities to do for each remaining day of the week. For example, on Monday you might read the Teacher's Guide, complete the discussion prompts, and do an experiment from the Activities page, on Tuesday, do an art activity and work on vocabulary, on Wednesday, complete a creative writing prompt, and do a hands-on activity, and on Thursday, complete the research prompts and geography prompts. In this way, you can spread one lesson over an entire week, allowing you to use one unit for nine weeks!
A Lesson a Day:
If you are completing one lesson per day, we recommend beginning by reading the lesson in the Teacher's Guide, and choosing a few, or all, of the activities and prompts to complete the same day.
Whether you complete one lesson per week or per day will depend on your families learning goals and how much time you have to dedicate to the unit study per day.
For A Feast of Language Arts:
After you read the lesson from the Teacher's Guide, each child will open up their own student workbook and complete the pages within. These workbooks often include hands-on activity prompts, especially in Level 1 and Level 2 workbooks. It is possible to complete these lessons in one day, or spread them out over an entire week.
To use this curriculum, you should have a notebook for each student, and basic writing and art supplies. Access to a map and globe would be useful, but online versions can be used if desired. Internet access may be used for research. Alternatively, you could provide your children with reference books for research, although we do not provide a book list. Keep in mind that all activities are optional. Most activities use household or easy to source items and supply lists can be found on the Activities page(s).
